About

Kapatagan means “the plains” in Filipino: open, level ground where things can grow. That’s the idea behind everything built here.

Who’s behind it

Kapatagan is a one-person workshop run by Jerico Vilog, an IT specialist from Antipolo. He has been building and looking after websites since 2007, and has spent years fixing computers, running servers, and keeping sites secure for clients.

He’s also a Cisco Networking Academy instructor and has taught computing at the college level. Teaching is where the plain-language habit comes from: if a student can’t follow it, the explanation needs work, not the student.

Why build these

Most of these projects started as fixes for real problems, like spam piling up on Pinoy Gaming Network, or students waiting in line just to get their Blackboard login. Salleh started as a three-year dream of a robot that speaks the way Filipinos actually talk.

The tools stay free because they should be useful to the small sites and schools that need them most.
